Computers or Home Science for ICSE 9th std

Sir /Madam, I am presently studying 8th std in ICSE syllabus. We will have options to choose next year. Either maths-science or economics and commerce. We also have options for choosing either computer or home science. I┬ádon’t understand computers, but fine with maths and science. Though my parents are forcing me to choose computer.

It depends on how much you like Home Science to not take computers. If you have an extreme liking towards it and know what it is all about, may be you could talk to your parents and make them more aware of it.

Practically speaking, it doesn’t make much difference of what you choose in 9th standard as far as eligibility to study either of them for higher studies, say after 12th, is concerned. So, taking either could be fine.

For computers, esp. for engineering, you need to take maths and science in 12th, while for home science most of the colleges prefer students having taken physics, chemistry and biology subjects in their 12th.

Since 12th is still a few years away, your focus should be on 10th. So, out of the two, going for a scoring subject, that could boost your overall percentage in 10th boards, could be a better bet.
