The Vardhaman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC) was established only recently (at the Safdarjung Hospital) as compared to the rest in the list. The college was inaugurated by the Honorable Atal Bihari Vajpayee on the 17th December, 2001.

The Safdarjung hospital was running Post‐Grad courses (MD/MS) even before the establishment of VMMC. The college now also runs superspecialization course (Mch/DM), while the MD/MS course in Pre and Para Medical subjects was started in the year 2011.
